The sturdy barrels are made of seasoned oak wood, so-called staves. This oak wood comes from the Palatinate forest and is PEFC certified. PEFC guarantees that wood products come from sustainably managed forests. PEFC is the largest institution for ensuring and marketing sustainable forest management through an independent certification system.
The staves are straightened according to cooper tradition, processed into a tub and additionally glued. The inside of the vats is fully fire treated. This serves as an additional protection against rotting. On the outside, the treatment with linseed oil gives a silky matt shine.

The hoops may be very quickly affected by flash rust and the tannins wash out of the barrel (tan). Therefore, do not place the chestnut barrels on high-quality patio slabs or paving stones.

In our carpenter's workshop, we rebuilt the red wine barrel with craftsmanship into this beautiful flower tub. First, the staves were glued and waves were cut out from the top of the barrel. These waves are finely sanded and the resulting form makes this flowerpot into an absolute eyecatcher in your garden. Two drilled holes serve as carrying handles. The hoops are wire brushed and the pot is coated with boat varnish.
