Used brandy barrel from the French Limousin oak

These barrels were filled with French brandy distillate at the distillery in Wilthen.

Since 1885, the Wilthen distillery has been producing brandy according to the French model. It is one of the first and therefore oldest brandy distilleries in Germany. Not only did it survive both World Wars and the GDR, it has also produced one or the other big name over the years - both Hugo Asbach and his son completed their training with Wilthen.

The generic term "brandy", which was registered with the Imperial Patent Office in 1907, is a joint development of the Association of German Cognac Distilleries, to which the companies of Hugo Asbach and Hünlichs also belonged.

The Wilthen distillery was family-owned from 1842 to 1951. After expropriation and renaming to "VEB Weinbrand" - one of the leading companies in the GDR, it was then taken over in 1992 by the Count von Hardenberg family due to lack of heirs, but who appreciate tradition and history. This is how today's Hardenberg-Wilthen AG was founded.

Dimensions ca.:
Length of staves: 115-119 cm
Ø Belly: 89-93 cm
Ø Head: 70-74 cm

By default, the barrels are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you want a new silicone bung, you can order it under accessories (type standard - C16).

Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood or, in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels. The usage of the barrel will not be affected by those! The barrels are very carefully checked by us at the exit control against sensor and technical errors. We assume no liability for cracks or splits that occur during maturation. A possible and a reasonable repair is not under guarantee.
