Gin barrel 110 l - mulberry

Product information "Gin barrel 110 l - mulberry"

Freshly emptied, highly aromatic 110 l gin barrels from one of Germany's best-known gin distilleries.

Pre-emptied gin barrels are a very rare product, as the maturing of gin in wooden barrels has only just gained a fresh impetus. And speaking of fresh - this is precisely the special feature of gin barrels. The tart and herbaceous spice of resin and grass from the juniper berries is an incomparable aroma that can be imparted to your distillate by maturing or finishing it in pre-seasoned gin barrels. The variety and complexity of flavors in gin is an interesting component in the finishing process of distillates. It is not for nothing that gin is a popular player in the bar scene. After all, gin and its aromatics are an indispensable component of many cocktails, which reflects its diversity but also its compatibility. This compatibility of flavors shows how a barrel of gin can add that certain something to your product.

The barrels are fitted with a used wooden or plastic stopper as standard. If you would like a new silicone bung, you can order this under accessories (type Standard - C14).

The barrels are supplied without barrel storage or trestle.

Pre-used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood, external stress cracks or possibly an uneven base are not quality defects, but are rather determined by the nature of the construction and the previous use of the barrels. This does not affect the functionality of the barrel. We check the barrels very carefully for sensory and technical defects during the outgoing inspection. We accept no liability for cracks or fissures that occur during maturation. A possible and reasonable repair is not covered by guarantee.

Slight sweetness
Whiskybarrel 125 l - Schwarzwald, twice selected
These whisky barrels are an interesting product due to their “intermediate size” – because whoever wants to try something new, limited editions or try out another ingredient for blending, will find it here.  Above all, these barrels win you over in terms of taste. After years of being used to age a peat whisky from a German distillery, they have developed a smokey and lingering flavour that is not too overpowering. Slightly sweet, lots of caramel with a nutty finish, supported by salty, subtle peat flavours such as nuances of smoke and seaweed in the nose.  Supplied without barrel storage or racks. By default, the drums are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you want a new silicone bung, you can order it under accessories (type standard - C16).  Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood or, in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels. Whisky
Denmark
Whisky barrel 225 l - 228 l - Denmark
Freshly emptied 225 l - 228 l barrels from Danish whisky casks. The barrels were first filled with muscatel, bourbon or port wine and then with high-quality Danish whisky. The whisky aged in these barrels was produced in a traditional manner - quite literally by hand. The idea of producing Danish whisky originated during a casual beer or whisky tasting, when the founders wondered why there was no whisky distillery despite the country's high-quality raw materials. Initially started as a hobby, the idea later evolved into a business model. The distillery was relocated from a former butcher shop to a converted farmhouse nearby, and over the past 10 years, it has become a renowned distillery with a significant volume of whisky produced. All the whisky's raw materials come from Denmark, including the excellent Danish water and the peat used for smoking, sourced from an open-air museum. With these barrels, you benefit from internationally acclaimed quality and flavor. The barrels are fitted with a used wooden or plastic stopper as standard. If you would like a new silicone bung, you can order this under accessories (standard type - C16). Bourbonbarrel 190 l - twice selected
One barrel - two distilleries. Young, strong and full of flavor. The barrels were originally filled with bourbon in the USA before being carefully selected and then filled with single malt in Europe. The focus of these barrels is not the release of aroma through new wood, but rather the saturation with whiskey from their previous filling. These casks are ideal for storing and maturing distillates that need to spend a certain amount of time in a cask to develop their full aroma. They are more cost-effective compared to once-used barrels and also have a youthful freshness that is imbued with the characteristic aromas of bourbon. These characteristics make them perfect flavor carriers for the brewing industry, especially for refining beer. In addition, these barrels are also ideal for refining a variety of other products that can benefit from the additional aromas of whiskey, such as spices, coffee, cocoa beans and much more.   By default, the drums are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you want a new silicone bung, you can order it under accessories (type standard - C16). Rum barrel 190 l - Dominican Republic
This 190-liter wooden barrel has had a fascinating journey. It was first used to mature US bourbon, which is known for its sweet, spicy aromas. After the bourbon was bottled, the barrel was sent to the Dominican Republic, where it was filled with molasses-based rum.By maturing in the former bourbon barrel, the rum absorbed the remaining vanilla and caramel notes of the bourbon, giving it additional depth and complexity. At the same time, the rum developed its own aromas of tropical fruit and brown sugar. The result is a harmonious rum that combines the best qualities of both worlds. This special storage demonstrates how thoughtful barrel storage can enrich the flavor profile of a distillate and is a must for lovers of high-quality spirits.Pre-used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood, external stress cracks or possibly an uneven base are not quality defects, but are rather determined by the nature of the construction and the previous use of the barrels. This does not affect the functionality of the barrel. We check the barrels very carefully for sensory and technical defects during the outgoing inspection. Whiskybarrel 125 l – Highland Single Malt
The Ardmore Distillery lies in the Scottish Highlands and has traditionally a strong connection with the region and the locals. Ardmore Whisky is naturally at the heart of this connection. Although the distillery has had several name changes since it was founded in 1898, it remains fundamentally the same distillery and its buildings are included in the Scottish Heritage list. Ardmore Whisky is renown for its especially gentle and pleasing flavour. This flavour is immediately recognisable in the nose from the very first whiff: the notes of heather, sweet honey with light smoke come together to produce a very special blend in which hints of cinnamon and toffee are also recognizable. On the palate, the flavour of the lightly peated whisky gives way to notes of creamy vanilla, spices and sweet honey paired with light smokey flavours. The complexity of Ardmore Whisky is instantly recognizable with its soft, lingering aftertaste combined with full spicy notes.  The years of aging in the barrels allow the barrel staves to absorb the full whisky flavour. This interaction not only allows the whisky to mature but will also impart a wonderful flavour when the barrels are re-filled. As the whisky only has the slightest hint of peat, this opens the door for a wide range of possibilities for re-using these barrels. Supplied without barrel storage or racks. By default, the barrels are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you want a new silicone bung, you can order it under accessories (type standard - C16). Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood or, in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels. Islay Single Malt Whisky barrels 125 l
Freshly emptied 125 l Whisky barrels. These American white oak barrels were made exclusively for Laphroaig Distillery. The special thing about Laphroaig's Quarter Cask Whisky is that it is first stored in used bourbon casks and then in the smaller 125 l casks (the so-called double-mature process).  In the past, these casks have only come into contact with Laphroaig whiskies, which is why they give off a smoky aroma of peat ash and an intense malt and citrus scent. The relatively large surface area in the cask gives your distillate a fine structure with an extraordinary depth. Supplied without barrel storage or racks. Calvados barrel 225 l
Generally spoken, Calvados could be described as "apple brandy from Normandy". But this rather sober formulation does not do it justice in any way. As with many other distillates, there is a very special philosophy behind Calvados. First of all, there are the 11 departments in Normandy, which are the only ones that have the right to use the name "Calvados". There are only exactly 48 varieties of apples that are allowed to be produced - for comparison: in Europe alone there are almost 20,000 varieties of apples. These apples are then pressed into cider after harvesting - already here the recipe plays a special role: exactly 40% bitter or bittersweet, 40% sweet and 20% sour apples are used to achieve the desired taste. The cider obtained is quite tasty, with a maximum of 5% alcohol but still too weak for the (French) palate. So the cider is now fermented in tanks. Depending on the department and taste of the distiller, this takes between 21 and 48 days. Only then is the actual calvados distilled. In a special procedure it gets its own special note, which is further refined by the storage in wooden barrels. The barrel maturation lasts at least two, in some cases even many more years. The longer the storage in wooden barrels (which are also made exclusively from French oak), the more aromatic the calvados becomes. The aromas of chocolate, light smoke and walnut speak for themselves and make Calvados a distillate that has maintained its importance for decades - and will continue to do so in the future. Calvados is a popular aperitif or digestif. In France calvados is also often drunk between two courses of a larger menu. The "trou normand" (Norman hole) is supposed to clean up the stomach and make room for the next courses, in other words, to practically make a "hole" in the stomach.By default, the barrels are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you want a new silicone bung, you can order it under accessories (type standard - C16). Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood or, in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels. Brandy barrel 450 l - 500 l - Germany
Used brandy barrel from the French Limousin oak These barrels were filled with French brandy distillate at the distillery in Wilthen. Since 1885, the Wilthen distillery has been producing brandy according to the French model. It is one of the first and therefore oldest brandy distilleries in Germany. Not only did it survive both World Wars and the GDR, it has also produced one or the other big name over the years - both Hugo Asbach and his son completed their training with Wilthen. The generic term "brandy", which was registered with the Imperial Patent Office in 1907, is a joint development of the Association of German Cognac Distilleries, to which the companies of Hugo Asbach and Hünlichs also belonged. The Wilthen distillery was family-owned from 1842 to 1951. After expropriation and renaming to "VEB Weinbrand" - one of the leading companies in the GDR, it was then taken over in 1992 by the Count von Hardenberg family due to lack of heirs, but who appreciate tradition and history. This is how today's Hardenberg-Wilthen AG was founded. By default, the barrels are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. The barrels are checked and cleaned on the outside, but otherwise remain in their original condition.Aroma package of old cognac, sweet ripe grapes - a raisiny touch paired with the elegant and demanding cognac aroma. The barrel is supplied with a wooden or silicone bung.Pre-used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood, external stress cracks or possibly an uneven bottom are not quality defects, but are rather determined by the nature of the construction and the previous use of the barrels. This does not affect the functionality of the barrel.  We check the barrels very carefully for sensory and technical defects during the outgoing inspection. We accept no liability for cracks or fissures that occur during maturation. A possible and reasonable repair is not covered by guarantee. All pictures are examples and optical deviations are possible.

Brandybarrel 225 l - American oak
Freshly emptied Brandybarrel 225 l - The barrels are made of American white oak and are in good condition. 2013 vintageFilled with brandy for 8 yearsOrigin Portugal By default, the drums are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you want a new silicone bung, you can order it under accessories (type standard - C16). Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood or, in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels. The usage of the barrel will not be affected by those! The barrels are very carefully checked by us at the exit control against sensor and technical errors. We assume no liability for cracks or splits that occur during maturation. A possible and a reasonable repair is not under guarantee. Pictures are examples, colour variations are possible   Is Brandy only the number 2? I mean no, distillates especially matured in barrels of American or French oak, which have experienced a first occupation of sherry, I find great. Carefully matured in the Solera process or, in the case of large and valuable qualities, over years sometimes even decades in a barrel, one experiences true fireworks of flavor aromas and celebrations for the palate. Typical of the brandies from Spain and Portugal, from whose distillers we obtain our brandy barrels, is the taste of aromas such as plum, raisin, caramel and positively occupied by mahogany wood, to experience.  Brandy is somewhat easier and more accessible to enjoy as Cognac, certainly also conditioned as already mentioned by the storage in American oak barrels, which by nature already give a very large vanillin share to the distillate during maturation and finally the influence of sherry from these barrels - it is the sweetness that is associated with this and makes the brandy a favorite not only among connoisseurs! From our point of view, one of the most aroma-rich barrels for restocking with a profound finesse, a mouth caressing for the subsequent distillates and beers in the restocking.
