As an option we offer brass taps for installation in barrels. This spigot offers you a professional tapping from the barrel.In combination with an order of an oak barrel we install this tap without additional cost. In case you want to set up the tap by yourself, a drilling of 11 to 12 mm is required. Length of tap is ca. 7 cm, length without thread is ca. 4 cm

Handmade valinch made of copper for taking distillate samples from the wooden barrel. Those who are dedicated to distillates and are passionate about a certain luxury will find that certain something with the copper valinch. The whisky thief is now not only an indispensable and practical accessory, but also a visual eye-catcher. For the right tasting and also presentation of distillates, the -well better- valincher is the icing on the cake.  In handling, the whisky thief does not differ in any way from its glass counterpart. The opening at the top of the tasting siphon closes with a small movement of the hand and thus holds your product.   You have a choice of three attractive designs: red, beige or white. Wooden tap for occasional tapping. For professional and permanent use, we offer a stainless steel tapImportant note – SpigotThe spigot has been designed for hobby use and incidental tapping. It shall consist of natural wood product with a cork gasket. Small leaks cannot be completely avoided and they are no cause for complaint. We offer the replacement of spigot in the shop. The spigot has to be watered at least 24 hours bevor use.We advise you to resign of spigot during aging and storage. There is a danger that the distillate leaks out of the drill hole. The sample may be taken from the bung hole.

Production and characteristics:Fino is made from the Palomino grape and undergoes a special ageing process known as "biological ageing". Freshly emptied Oloroso sherry casks, ideal for storing and maturing whisky, brandy, grain, etc. Nice sweetness, full body flavour! The barrels were used for around 30 years. The staves of the freshly emptied barrels are still saturated with the unfiltered sherry. Made out of American White Oak. Based on the specific manufacturing method the Sherry develops a flavour rich of almonds and yeast, occasionally also reminding of hazelnut and walnut which is exclusively peculiar for this wine.The most characteristic for Sherries is that they are firstly produced from a dry white wine. This wine is treated with brandy after the agitation being completed and thus increased from originally 11 to 12 to 15 to 19.9 alcohol percentage. After that it ripens in unclosed 500 l wood barrels. In order to sweet the Sherries Muscatel or Pedro Ximenez wines will be added before the filling. The grapes of this varietal are not immediately pressed after the harvest but first dried. The juice of these grapes is very concentrated and the yeast does not turn all sugar into alcohol. During the Sherry manufacturing process exclusively Palomino, Moscatel and Pedro Ximenez can be used, other grape varieties are only cultivated for table wine and ordinary table wine production in the province of Cádiz. Sherry is blended from wines of different years during its barrel ripening process. Oloroso is produced without bloom layer by oxidation and is darker and stronger in its flavour and in principle rather dry, with amber until mahogany colour and a nice nut flavour (oloroso). The alcohol level of an Oloroso amounts to 17 to 20 % vol. Barrel will be deliverd with a silicone bung.
