The Ardmore Distillery lies in the Scottish Highlands and has traditionally a strong connection with the region and the locals. Ardmore Whisky is naturally at the heart of this connection. Although the distillery has had several name changes since it was founded in 1898, it remains fundamentally the same distillery and its buildings are included in the Scottish Heritage list. Ardmore Whisky is renown for its especially gentle and pleasing flavour. This flavour is immediately recognisable in the nose from the very first whiff: the notes of heather, sweet honey with light smoke come together to produce a very special blend in which hints of cinnamon and toffee are also recognizable. On the palate, the flavour of the lightly peated whisky gives way to notes of creamy vanilla, spices and sweet honey paired with light smokey flavours. Freshly Emptied Rye Bourbon Barrel 190 L from IJW Whiskey Company Founded in 2016, the company is still relatively young but should not be underestimated. As a non-distiller producer (NDP), IJW has its whiskey produced by partner distilleries in Kentucky. This interesting model allows for greater creative freedom in mash bills and maturation. Little is known about the IJW Whiskey Company so far, and its products are not yet widely available on the market. This makes the barrel itself and its aromas all the more intriguing. First Call Rye Whiskey was first released in 2021 with a mash bill containing at least 51% rye. Cream is a blend of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez and offers a even-tempered sweetness and balance. The 125-liter barrels are original, freshly emptied Scotch whisky barrels, creating a balanced flavor profile between the former whisky and the subsequent maturation with sherry. Flavor: Dark tropical wood, notes of dried fruit, plums and elegant sweetness.
