Freshly emptied gin barrels from a French distillery, Bordeaux transport shape.
Originally the barrels were filled with white wine - Sauvignon Blanc - then several years alternating with gin.
Nose: Typical gin - juniper, very fresh
The spirit made of juniper has not always been called Gin. In the 16th century a Dutch professor Sylvius de Bouve invented a medicine called “Genever”. Presumably the name came from the French word for juniper (Genièvre).
The Genever developed from a medicine to a favored spirit. Especially the English people came to enjoy it and gave the spirit the name we know today “Gin”.
He gets his characteristic flavor from the aromatization with spices like juniper and coriander. Depending on the manufacture the Gin differs in more constituent parts and taste.
The Gin gets his aroma during distillation in which the steam is guided directly over the spices or the spices are mixed with the mash. The spirit has at least 37.5% vol alcoholic strength. It has to be said that the spirit from better fillings definitively have a higher alcoholic strength to get the taste harmonious. Gin with an alcoholic strength of 40-47 % vol is mostly preferred.

Barrel will be deliverd with a wooden or silicon bung.
Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood or, in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels. The usage of the barrel will not be affected by those! The barrels are very carefully checked by us at the exit control against sensor and technical errors. We assume no liability for cracks or splits that occur during maturation. A possible and a reasonable repair is not under guarantee.
