Whisky barrel 190 l - Swiss - twice selected

Freshly emptied approx. 190 l whisky barrel from the Bernese Oberland.

The original Swiss branding illustrates the history of these barrels. During the first filling, these barrels were used to age soft bourbon, whose aromas were then passed on to a well-known Swiss whisky. These twice selected wooden casks promise structured, sweet flavours but their availability is limited.

These barrels are used to store and mature distillates that need to spend a certain amount of time maturing in the barrel. The barrels are cheaper than once-used ones and they are also still quite young, fresh and well interspersed with whisky. They make excellent flavour carriers for beer. These barrels are also perfect for filling with all other products that need to absorb the additional aroma of the whisky, e.g. spices, coffee, cocoa beans, etc.

As standard, the barrels are equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you want a new silicone bung, you can order it under Accessories (type standard - C16).

Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood, external stress cracks, or  in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels. The usage of the barrel will not be affected by those! The barrels are very carefully checked by us at the exit control for sensory and technical defects. We assume no liability for cracks or splits that occur during maturation. A possible and a reasonable repair is not under guarantee.
