For keen distillates and brandys. The cigar casks are available in French or American oak. Because of the cigar shape the surface inside the barrel is bigger. That leads you to a faster maturing and more input from the oak for the distillate.
American oak (Toast Medium+ and toasted heads)
The American Oak has a methyl octalactone isomer content 2 to 5 times higher than that of European Oak. The marked presence of these components lends American oak its exceptional aromatic potential.
During toasting, the degradation of the polyosides in the wood produces greater quantities of furan derivatives and enolic molecules, which provide the much appreciated “roasted” aromas.
French Oak (Forte toast)
The French Limousin Oak is one of the best oak for maturation of your brandy or distillate. The barrel interior is toasted strong, it provides a nice golden-brown color and a unique character of barrel maturation.
